Service description
The City of Turku supports the employment of young people from Turku with a summer job voucher. The employer of a young person who has received a summer job voucher is entitled to financial support, which covers part of the young person's employment costs. The young person can use the summer job voucher for work during the summer season.
The summer job voucher is granted for an agreed job position and cannot be reserved in advance.
Who is the service intended for?
- A summer job voucher can only be obtained by a young person whose home municipality is Turku.
- The workplace does not have to be located in Turku.
- The employer must be either a company, association, organization, parish, or foundation.
- The voucher cannot be used for employment at a service point of the City of Turku or any other city, for the state, or for employment with a private individual or household.
- During one summer season, a young person can receive only one summer job voucher for one workplace. You can receive a summer job voucher even if you have previously received a summer or seasonal job voucher from the City of Turku.
- The employer hires the young person who has received the summer job voucher. The City of Turku has no role in the employment relationship.
- The employment must take place during the summer season. The work must last at least 10 working days, and the working hours must be 30 hours per week or a total of at least 60 hours during the summer season. The working days do not have to be consecutive.
- The employer must primarily pay wages according to the applicable collective agreement for the employment.
- During one summer season, a young person can receive only one summer job voucher for one workplace. The value of the summer job voucher cannot be divided between multiple workplaces. The summer job voucher is intended for the summer job of the young person from Turku named on the voucher.
- The voucher is valid only for the year indicated on it. A new summer job voucher can be obtained even if the young person has already received a summer or seasonal job voucher from the City of Turku in a previous season.
- A maximum of five vouchers can be granted to the same workplace for different employees.
- The summer job voucher compensation is paid only if all the conditions for granting the support are met. Missing, incomplete, unclear, or contradictory documents delay or may prevent the payment of the support.
